I'm considering this battery for my 1500. This is the one that is recommended, but, clearly the terminals are "backwards" for my bike. Is this just a pic of a general battery, or will the one for my bike have the correct terminals? |

41/2 STARS FOR THIS ITEM- FOR INSTRUCTIONS ONLY NOTICE- THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN PUT FIRST (THE BATTERY WILL NOT CRANK IF YOU DO NOT CONNECT THE METAL PLATE THAT CONNECTS THE 2 INTERNAL CELL TOGETHER INSIDE THE BATTERY) I FOUND THIS AFTER RECIEVING THE SECOND BATTERY FROM WINGSTUFF-I CALLED AGAIN SHORAI & WE FOUND OUT TOGETHER WHY THE 1ST BATT. DIDN'T FIRE UP- THE CELL WERE NOT CONNECTED BECAUSE OF A SAFETY RULE IN SHIPPING THIS BATTERY ???????????????-SO NOW THE BATTERY WAS INSTALLED WHEN I RECIEVED IT 6/17/11--- I HAVE CAPACITOR SO I CAN LITERALLY SEE THE ACTUAL VOLTAGE BEING USED-----14.4 VOLTS WHEN RUNNING- THEN WHEN THE TRIKE IS NOT RUNNIING THE VOLTAGE SETTLES DOWN TO 31.2 OR 13.1 VOLTS-------- OF COURSE THERE VOLTAGE BEING USED WHEN THE BIKE/TRIKE IS PARKED. YES IT FIRES RIGHT UP NOW (THAT THE CELLS HAVE BEEN CONNECTED.) SEEMS TO MAINTAIN VOLTAGE WHEN PARKED & RADIO IS PLAYING- 13.1/.2 VOLTS--I HAVE THE 27 A.HR BATTERY---- (LFX27L3-BS12) THIS BATTERY IS FOR ACCESSORIZED BIKES/TRIKES- AS SHORAI HAS SAID ON ITS WEBSITE--SO BE SURE TO READ SLOWLY EVERY DROP OF THE INSTRUCT.- STILL CKING HER POUT THO- SO CAN YOU SO TRY IT OUT----------------- |

Just got the word from WingStuff that all the Goldwing Shorai batteries will be the newer 24 amp, or larger if ordered that way. Here's the link to the Shorai website giving the new specs for the batteries. https://www.shoraipower.com/t-battery-specs.aspx Goldwing batteries are Case Series #3 (scroll down to the bottom of the page). The standard 24 amp/hr has a cold cranking amperage of 330. The 27 amp one has a CCA of 405, and the 36 amp one has a CCA of 540. They are still expecting delivery by May 6th on my order. I'll let you all know how the larger size case version fits the Goldwing. |

REVISED, After some checking on this battery on the Shorai site found this model is for RACE bikes and states " NOT RECOMMENDED for daily road use". It also says for the 2 pound lighter model Cranking speed and lifespan may be reduced. There is only about 2 ( one ) pounds difference between this model and the standard or Heavy Duty ( Duration ) model. This model is the cheapest, The other 2 models are about $100.00 more at Shorai price list. It would be nice if wingstuff offered these models as well. This model is about 30$ less than on the Shorai site. I am going to cancel my standing order for a extra one to carry in my trailer and order the Heavy Duty one and put this light duty one in the trailer as a spare. I will say I am impressed with this battery and it has performed great for the past couple of months, however with pulling a trailer, all the lights, etc. a extra 135 cranking amps and 9 amp hour draw could make a difference for still a little weight. Check out the Shorai web site. So far it appears to be a great battery and if it lasts 2 or 3 times longer, well worth the money. Still give 5 stars |

Installed 3 weeks ago, so light thought it came empty, they forgot to put in the battery!, seams to work ok for now, even played around with some accessories on to see if it would start the bike when run down a little, started right up, will see how long it lasts, really neat and since so light and small I ordered another one to carry on long trips for a spare. |

As state this battery is 14 lbs lighter and considerably smaller than the stock battery. I had to use almost all the padding supplied to get the Shorai battery to the same size. I removed the bolts and nuts from the stock battery and used them on the Shorai. It did required the use of a drill to enlarge the holes on the side for them to work, also trimmed the cable terminals so they could be mounted on the side instead of the top. The old bolts made a better fit for the cables. I was surprised with the power of the Shorai because of the dout due to the size plus how little it weighed. The reason for the 4 star rating is having to go through all the steps so it could be used on the Goldwing. |

Pay close attention to the caveat at the end of the product description and the extra pictures--- this battery is quite a bit smaller than stock, and you will need to build up the battery box with foam shims (provided) to make it fit. You will also need to either bend or trim the battery connections because the terminals on the Shorai don't allow room for the normal "bend" in the Goldwing connectors. I just cut mine a little shorter using a Dremel motor tool. The battery has a shipping weight of only 3 pounds, contains no liquid to freeze, and sounds like a real dream. Once I got mine installed, the bike started without a problem and even seemed to have a little extra zip to the starter--even though the battery comes with only a 90% charge on it. I haven't had this long enough to see the long-term effects, but I'm looking forward to all the benefits. I only gave it 4 stars because the terminal posts are flimsy, the nuts are cheap and make it unnecessarily difficult to get the screws started when connecting it to the bike. I hope this is not an indication of the overall quality of construction. Did I mention that the bike did start right up, and it seems to work just fine? And it trims over 10 pounds off the weight of the bike, requires zero maintenance, doesn't discharge when it sits, and won't freeze? (smile) |
