If I had answered this posting BEFORE we went on a 10000+ mile trip I would have given it 5 stars! However, this bag literally started falling apart before we were 2500 miles from home. We had taken the bag and rack system on 2 other short trips and it performed beautifully. Have any of you driven in the rain, or where mud would splash up on the bottom of the bag? Let me tell you first off even with the cover, IT LEAKS! Secondly, the zipper started falling apart on the left side as you look down at the bag and the cover is coming apart too. We are very careful with our gear, nearly 10 years later we still have the Gold Wing Bags we purchased with the bike and use them on EVERY trip. They have been more than 80K miles. This bag was not handled inappropriately in any way. It just proved to be a piece of junk on a long trip! I wish they made a hard case (like a pelican case) that attaches to the rack or a sealable plastic case for the bag so when rain, mud, tiny gravel, etc blow up on the bottom, your contents inside stay dry and the bag would stay clean. It's a mess taking it off the bike and uncovering it every day, when it is wet and muddy. Maybe we are just the only ones who have taken it on such a long ride. |

I recently purchased this item and then went on a 1,600 mile trip. It worked great. Along with the luggage rack bag I bought to go on top of the trunk, I increased my storage capacity considerable. It works great, except now my wife thinks she can take 5 pairs of shoes instead of two. |

The GOOD: Greatly increased my storage capacity. The wife and I managed 9 days of clothes each on an 8 state excursion. This beats a trailer because it's a fraction of the price and in states like CA and OR you aren't limited the the "vehicle pulling a trailer speed limit". The BAD. The pins that hold the bag to the rack are a bugger to get out. I found it easier to remove it from the hitch. 2nd Even though the bag attaches in 2 places I toss on a couple bungee cords. 3rd After the 1st 500 miles I noticed the bag had dulled the finish on the bike above the rack. I got a little blue masking tape and solved that and Maguires #9 and a little hand rubbing fixed the paint. Great packing tip - use gallon Zip locks and squeeze all the air out before putting in the bag that is "water resistant not proof!" All in all, 4 out of 5 but if I had this info from the start I would have given 5 stars |

This is a great bag for touring. Purchased to fill the gap until I could get a trailer, I'm finding that the combination of security (ability to take off the rack when I go into the hotel room for the night, while out touring) and practicality (good amount of storage) may mean that I don't get a trailer for some time to come. Like the security (connection to the rack) by the use of the same manuf's cooler rack that is drilled out for locking steel rods that slip through the base of the bag. Looking forward to years of use! |

We don't tow a trailer, but needed extra storage space. Decided to buy this and a trailer hitch for our Gold Wing. This was a good deal and the rack/bag attached to our hitch very securely and was easy to remove. This was a good solution for us. Good Buy |

This is a very smart product. Mine is attached to the Rivco hitch which I thought I would be used to pull a trailer. I don't need a trailer anymore. This keeps the bike the way I like it. No extra stuff dragging behind that I have to figure how to store after we unhook. I did drill a couple holes to attach the license plate because I don't want trouble from the cops while traveling through different states. The bag is big enough to hide the plate and I'm sure that would not be ok with someone out there. |
