Just be a little flexible.
Like everyone is saying. Patience putting them in is the key. Front is harder to get in. Opening and closing is different Needs firmer closing and slight downward pressure when opening. You get the feel what it takes to open and close. Haven't had thenm in that long but seems to do what they are supposed to. |

not worth drilling the holes
bought these a few years ago and finally tried to put them on. The ones at the rear seem to be OK but the ones at the front or hinge side both broke trying to get them in. There are 2 layers of the trunk where they tell you to drill so I could not pull them in far enough for them to sit properly. Even with lube on the rubber when I pulled hard to try to get them seated they broke. Going to try the hose inserted in the gasket. |

Works
Following directions wasn't to hard to install. Have used for 3 months now and trunk still requires push to fully close. Keeps trunk lid in line and bumpers seem to do what was advertised. |

Bumpers for your trunk
These are pretty cool. They solve the problem of the trunk lid hitting and rubbing on the trunk bottom. It keeps the lower section from getting scratched up and looking ugly. Bad part is you have to drill holes in your "baby" but it's pretty easy to install. Took me about 30 minutes total. |

All ready chafed
I tried these drill holes and all,but my trunk was all ready chaffed and once installed made the trunk lid sit up higher and you could see the chaffing from the side. Now I got to go buy some plugs for the holes. They made the gaps between lid and trunk look terrible. |

works great
Installed these 4 years ago to stop the chafing. Was hard to close at first and had to press down on lid to release latch when opening. But after a while they had worn in and have been working great ever since. |

Great
I didnt bother me to drill holes in the trunk area, But it does take a little effort to close at first, I out these on in St louis at my dads and rode home to memphis and it was a little easier to close, love it cause to hear the trunk rattling every bump you hit. |

Rubber Bumpers
As others have said, I too was hesitant to drill holes. But I did it as instructed and I had no problems. I wish had done this long ago when the chaffing first started. It takes a little effort to close at first, but now lid closes easily and no more chaffing. |

Got cold feet
Like others, I wanted to try these with the new to me Trike, but once I "dry fit" them I could not bring myself to drilling the holes. So, I cut the tabs off and glued them in place. Was not pleased with the fit so I took them off. |

Where was Coyote79's idea?.....
...when I bought/installed these bumpers 2 years ago for my other Gold Wing (I have two '08 Airbags - one for summer in Canada, one I just bought for wintering in AZ). After reading Coyote79's review I went to Home Depot and bought some 5/16" O.D. clear vinyl tubing. I managed to get it around (inserted a piece from both ends) BUT the lid wouldn't close far enough to 'latch' (too thick/firm) so back to Home Depot, bought some 1/4" O.D. clear tubing (took the 5/16" out) and got it completely around inside the trunk seal (lube it up good with Dawn dishwashing soap). The trunk lid latches firmly with 'nothing' on the trunk rack and I know will be excellent with some weight on the rack. GREAT IDEA for $3+! |
