Over 300,000 Miles With One
I owned a 1989 and currently own a 1998 SE. Between the two bikes, I had put well over 300,000 miles using my Ride Off Center stand. It has been so very handle to be able to let my passenger off while she can feel much more stable. Yes, it slides and will not grip on very smooth cement. However, that still leads a LOT of times it works like a charm. Nothing wears out until after almost 400,000, I had to take it off and square the leading edge of the two pads with my grinder. The edge had finally rounded off to a curve and therefore no good grip. But seriously folks! This is after two bikes and 400k miles! And I think I might extend it longer with my grind job...maybe one more year or two. This is a Really good aftermarket item for many of us. And yes, I NEVER leave my bike on the stand without keeping the reverse gear engaged to keep a hard brake on. Otherwise I also agree it can be pushed off too easily. But, with it engaged.....it makes it quite difficult to move the bike at all! |

Replacement Center Stand
I received mine and installed it yesterday. The installation was easy (after fighting the cotter pin out) and removing the exhaust trim on the lower left side so the pin could slide out. 2 8mm bolts. The pinch bolt is 12 mm. I used 15 pennies jammed in between the individual coils. That worked like a charm! I literally pushed the loop over the pin and did not have to fight the spring tension. It works wonderfully on black top. I read the directions and see it states to leave reverse engaged to prevent accidental roll off if someone pushes on the bike. However, my garage floor is very smooth, and it would NOT go up on the stand using reverse. It just slid backwards. I was able to get it onto the stand the old manual way, just would have been nice to back in and have it roll up on it. Maybe some teeth on the bottom? Anyhow, it works for me and makes storage much better. Is there any reason why the back tire must be off the ground for winter storage? The front tire holds the weight all winter..... |

I have a chrome version of this and not only is the ride off great, but I find it easier to put back on the center stand. Can do it while still sitting on the motorcycle. |

I Have the ride off stand on my other two 1800's and love them. tried this on my son inlaw's 1500 with progressive suspension and it is too short as the bike sits higher. so if you have stock suspension & a stock size tire you will love this stand. |

Easy to install and use. It seems it would be easy for someone to lean against it and push it off the stand. I agree, if it had just a little more back angle to it, it would be more stable and probable just as easy to put down and ride off. Overall, I like it and consider it worth having. |

It is true, it is very easy to ride off, but it is not as stable as the regular side stand. The bike can easily be tipped over if you give it a push. The unit needs to be beefed up on teh foot pads to make it more stable. Othewise, I love it |
