Okay, this may be a bit long, but it will be in depth... Been a Metzler guy for 20+ years, even with the 2 out of 5 tires sucking. But I weigh the stickiness over the inconvenience of replacing a bad tire. I decided to try the Avons, since I liked them on my HD's. I put them on 1500 miles ago, using the Dyna beads for balancing (GREAT combination) fully aware the Avon reviews asid they were good for 7,500 to 12,000 miles, depending on how you ride. After all, I was happy to get 10,000 solid miles from my sticky Metz's. Here are my pros and cons about the Avons.... Pro's-Sticky and fantastic handling! Man do I feel confident in the turns, just like the Metz's, with one big plus. The tread pattern avoids all the `humming' I got from the Metz tread pattern as they wore. These tires lay down so sweet in the turns, and ride so soft on the highway. They are smooth as freaking silk and so damn quiet I don;t know they are there. I can actually hear the low end thrumm of the engine when I accelerate. So here is my only negative....the front tire has an alternating `hatchet' rain groove pattern. At slow speed, say 18 mph or less, the front tire `walks' with the pattern. For me, it was not minor, it was very pronounced. At first, it really bugged me, but then I realized, I don't snail crawl on my Wing unless traffic calls for it, and then, it's very short lived. So here's the other pro, the `walking' goes away over 18 mph. And then the the front is solid. Over SLOW speed, there is no `following' highway rain grooves, just like my beloved Metz's. Since I only have 1500 miles on these tires, I can't give a rating on mileage. But I am one of those riders who doesn't need to brag about how I got 20,000 on my tires. I will take sticki-safe and 10,000+ miles over slippery and 18,000 miles any day. I believe my skin is worth much more to me than any mileage comparison. Overall, I really like these tires. Major confidence on turns. Silent as a ghost. |

I have replaced both tires with these and have not had a problem with them. They loose air far less that the stock tires and I used nitros in the stock tires. I took an IBA SS1000 ride and was the smoothest ride yet. Cornering in twisties was excellent, just took a little to get use to the gripping power of the tires while leaned hard over, it is terriffic. Remember when doing twisties to put the rear shock all the way up to get all the clearence and not to drag bottom on corners. Ride hard, Ride Smart, Ride Safe!! |

Well I just ordered my second set of Avon's. The rear is totally gone after 7500 miles, I mean cords are showing and they weren't last week, the end was quick for these things, they were just slick last week and not even 100 miles later they are totaled, but it's been a very fun 7500 miles and I can't wait to get another set on to start the fun again. These tires are for people that like to take corners fast, not for people that want range. ;) I love these tires, although I wish the price hadn't gone up. |

I just came back from a 6000 mile trip after replacing my elite3's with the av71 and av72 tires. These are without a doubt the best tires I have ever had the pleasure of riding on, and I have been riding for 40+ years. My 08 wing just loves them, especially in the twisties. |

These tires are like having a new bike! The amount of pressure on the bars to start a lean is 25% of what it was with the Dunlaps. The quick response to a direction change is amazing. The traction in a turn is very impresive and gives you great confidence. I highly recomend them and Honda should offer them as an option on new bikes. Very stable on the freeway or the mountain twisties. |

Just installed the Avon cobras on my 2005 goldwing. Went with the 70 series rear tire and speedometer right on. I have around 1500 miles so far and I am very happy with them. Still have that little headshake at 40mph. |

Just had these installed on Wednesday and have only been able to put aprx 220 miles on as of Thursday night. After the first 100 miles to "scuff" them, I started pushing it further. I drove around Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) around Victory Circle (goes around entire grounds), and was able to take some curves at 60+ with no wobble/slip/anything; just sat tight and went on around. I used to run Avon's on my 1990 Yam Venture Royale and had excellent luck with them, so, when I seen these on the market some time back, I knew I wanted a set for my 2006 Wing. I have run the Metzler 880's and wont do that again. Only time will tell, so I'll try to remember to post something later, after I get a few miles on them. I DID go with the 70 series on the back, and I really think thats the way to go. |

Excelent tires, there is a significant change in handling for the better compared to the stock tires. You feel like there is a better grip on the road especially in cornering. Glad I got them. |

So far so good went with the 70s and yes my speedo is correct via the Zumo its nice now not to guess how fast you are going. I only have a few hundred miles on them but what a differance , I know that all new tires feel great when you change out but will let you know around 5k(most tires half life)for me. I also like that with the bigger 70s on the back the bike does not rock so much when on center stand.I live close to the dragons tail excited to try them out. |

First set of these tires and I am really pleased! I have used Elite III tires on my bike and though they are good tires the Avons are superior. Put the larger 70 sreies on the rear and the speedometer is now corrct. Drove from Oregon to Deals Gap and rode the Dragon! 7700 miles and the bike handeled great. Lean and let them turn! Tracked like they were nailed to the road. Still have a great deal of tread left after the trip. Floor boards took a beating! |
