If you wear a Flip-Style Full Face Helmet we recommend the UN version also sold on our website. The HSBCD279UN Universal Headset fits ANY Full Face and Flip Style Full Face Helmets because it does not have the rubber bass tubes attached to each speaker, allowing it to easily in the ear area of the helmet. Open Face Helmets have a larger, deeper ear area for those bass tubes to fit, so the OF version is ok. Overall, you may not notice much difference in sound with or without, so if your helmet. The music quality provided by this headset is superb and has been accomplished without any reduction in the headset's ability to provide proper intercom and CB communications. Headset can be connected to any factory installed motorcycle audio system in existence today, now and in the foreseeable future, just by interchanging the lower-section hook-up cord.
I purchased a new helmet and also a this headset. The Vega 3/4 helmet and this headset were made for each other. Everything fit together easily and works really great. The sound is the best I have had in a helmet. I have only had it for 1 week and 500 miles and so far it was well worth the money.
Good product, I installed this in my Vega 3/4 helmet with no problem that is until I started to use it. The clamp slipped over and over again, the microphone was intermittent. Turns out the problem was the installer- me! I finally figured out how best to install the clamp for this particular helmet and used some dielectric grease on the boom mic connector which seems to have helped solve that problem. So with that explanation I give J&M 5 stars for a very good product which functioned as advertised. Keep in mind you will never and I mean never get rid of wind noise but this sure helps! I will but another for the wife, the cheap headset I bought her is driving me nuts now! Buy it, it's worth every penny.
After a second email, Rodney came to the rescue for me. Unit shipped back to him saying they would repair or replace. They shortly shipped to J&M for repair. After a few weeks (I was in the process of moving to FL for the winter and didn't want shipping SNAFUs) Rodney shipped me a new unit. So far it works just fine. Five stars for Rodney and Wingstuff service, but I think J&M still deserves maybe two stars for their part. We'll see how long this unit lasts. Three weeks/2000 miles so far.
PS: Some say problems only occur if you store your helmet in the trunk and pinch the connector. I NEVER put mine in the trunk. FWIW.
But barely two months and 1500 miles later, the right side phine went dead. I traced it to thr connector between the headset and the lower cord. Sometimes if I wiggle it, I get sound for a while, but it always goes dead quite soon. Recently no amount of wiggle gets it back on. Way too expensive for three months service. WILL NOT purchase this product again.
And we can't wait to show you how it's done!
