I am done with anything Kury. Their chrome is low quality. This rack I s heavy. It will make your trunk rattle. Mine is about 5 years old and looks like the complete garbage that it is.
Take your time centering up this rack on trunk lid and laying out hole locations. Instead of drilling 1/4" holes as suggested by Kuryakyn I drilled 7/32" holes and the rack mounted no problem.
The thing that I found unacceptable (3 Star) was the fact that I had to chase the threaded holes out in order to get the mounting hardware to work. If this happens to you the size is #10-24.
Not much of a machinist if you can't drill and tap a hole correctly!!!
Get some Quality Control Kury...
On my third set of luggage racks from Kuryaken. The first one last about three years and scratched up very easily and then the chrome just started falling off! Replaced with new luggage rack, took a trip and used the Kuryaken Luggage Bag made for this rack and it scratched up the chrome pretty bad. Installed another rack yesterday and don't plan on using bag with it. For this kind of money you would think they would make a better product. Sure is pretty for a little while!
I purchased the Kuryakyn Luggage Rack for my Honda GL1800. It was not difficult to install. I was afraid to drill holes into my trunk lid. I found the instructions and the Kuryakyn video helpful. If you have a critical eye, you could notice that my rack is a ¼ of an inch off center. The luggage rack gives my bike an extra look and feel that I am riding a beautiful machine. Since my installations, I get more thumbs up from onlookers. Do not forget to add a flag.
And we can't wait to show you how it's done!
