About the Author
Fred Rau has been a professional motorcycle journalist for more than 35 years, serving as the editor of Wing World, the magazine for Gold Wing Riders Association, and as the managing editor of Road Rider. In 1991 he co-founded Motorcycle Consumer News. He has ridden well over 1 million miles on all types of motorcycles and currently operates Fred Rau Adventure Tours. He lives in Mission Viejo, California.
Touring on a motorcycle is the best way to see the world, but doing so without the proper skills and information can turn the trip of a lifetime into a disaster. The consequences range from expensive breakdowns to broken limbs to arrests in third-world countries and even to, on occasion, divorce.
Most people learn these lessons the hard way, but now readers of the Motorcycle Touring Bible can learn from author Fred Rau's mistakes rather than through the school of hard knocks. Rau shares a lifetime of motorcycle touring experience on such subjects as choosing the right gear, the best uses for GPS systems, and packing for a successful trip.
Great read and I only wish that I could have read it a few years ago, could have saved me some money.
It's well written and very interesting and informative. The only thing I did not like about the book is where it jumps or is continued on another page. Would recommend it to anyone who has never ridden and thinking about buying a bike or who has not ridden for a while and is buying another bike.
And we can't wait to show you how it's done!
