Hi, I would not recommend this product, even when fitted correctley, it puts too much stress on the brake caliper covers which also supports the fender, you'll find it will crack these straight through leaving the fender insuported and making a horrible sound when you go over rough ground! also small gravel will sound like your bikes about to fall apart! If you insist on using this unit, I would suggest you renforce the calliper covers with fibre glass mat and resin, I've had to do this twice, not worth the grief in my book.

I like the protection this provides from the road grime but installation was a little involved, i had everything installed and noticed the bottom of the flap was touching the tire so i had to disassemble it and readjust the flap so it would not rub. It is still very close to the tire but does not touch and after a 2000 mile trip, i have no problems or cracks like some of the other reviewers had experienced.

I love the look. However, with my Metzeler 880 tire there was not enough clearance between the tire and the extension when running over a little gravel. It sounded like the fender was being chewed up by the wheel spooks. Was on a 10 day trip and removed the extension after the first day. Installation was easy and was done correctly. This might be in issue with non-stock tires?

I loved this flap. Have had it on for 3 months. Washed the bike today and found it split my fender all the way up the middle. This is going to cost me $200 for a new fender. I am positive I put it on correctly. Almost looks like I hit a pot hole and the flap hit the lower cowl bottom becuase the break looks as though it had to be from the back of the flag pushing inward. No more flaps for me.

IMO it's the best looking extention out there. I did not use the brackets, but instead exposed the extension and used the accompanying bolts. Cuts the road grime way down.

This is the longest Fender Extension that will keep most rocks from hitting the timing plate cover. You will have to remove the front and rear fender to correctly install. If you are mechanically inclined this will not be difficult. Instructions are pretty clear. Looks real neat after completion...

I only saw one review for this product but really liked the way it looked. Fits right to the fender and follows the contour of the fender. Looks like it came with the bike. I was somewhat intimidated when I first got it. I did not realize I had to drill 3 holes to attach it and it also came with fender braces. Latter must be so it does not get ripped off by rocks etc. hitting it. I followed the instructions for removing the fender, very easy. Instructions could be clearer. I then found out the 2 top screw holes on the fender that the top of the bracket had to be attached to had to be tapped all the way through using a 6mm tap. I did not have one. Took it to the Honda dealer and they did it for me while I waited, no charge. I did all the drilling without help. I found it to be very easy to hold the chrome mud flag on the fender with one hand and drill with the other. I drilled the holes from the inside of the fender using the mudflap holes as a guide. Attaching the brackets and flap after the drilling was a breeze. Took about 15 minutes to get it all back on the bike.

Good quality and keeps the road grime off of the front of engine. Although it comes with braces, I found that the extension works just as well without them and greatly reduced the installation time.

Looks very good mounted-fits well with line of fender. Works well to prevent gravel throw-my main reason for install. I'm sure it will help with road spray in the rain as well.
As mentioned in another review you must have a M6 x 1.0 Tap. It did take my 1hr or so to install. Not a easy install but very sturdy mounting.
Item is plastic but finish is very good.

My Father-inlaw (fellow Wing rider)bought this for me.I like the clean line and length this extention offers. Does a good job of keeping the crud off the timing chain cover. If you'll be installing it your self you'll need a 6mm tap. I didn't on the day of installation and had to buy an entire metric tap and die set since it was the only 6mm tap available in my area.

They are not, chrome but plastic.A real pain to put on, and you have to re-thread your fender after removing it. 1/1/2 hours or more to install.

If you're considering a fender extension, this is it. It will protect your chrome cowling and will also reduce water splashing. It also looks like it's more a part of your wing and not just bolted on.

I installed this and 8000 miles later it shattered the rear section of my front fender (where is is atttached) It did this while moving 75 miles per hour on a smooth freeway. You can read about several people who have expereinced this same problem with various fender extensions from different manufacturers. My suggestion is that if you install it you add more reinforcement to the cheesy plastic fender and extender. To replace the fender is 167.00!!! (or more depending on the color of your bike) On one post a guy suggested painting truck bed liner on the inside of the fender to reinforce it. I think the harsh front suspension of the GL1800 attributed to the failure of the plastic. If you install it keep a close eye for cracks before you destroy the fender :-(

This extension looks good on the bike and it was not that difficult to install. I could see a huge difference on the amount of road grime on the timing cover and lower cowl on the first ride compared to the amount there would be prior to installing it. I anticipate it helping in the rain also. As far as the plastic construction of the part is concerned, the rest of the fender is plastic, so I doubt it will be a problem. I'm satisfied with the fit, finnish, appearance and function.
