On long trips I pulled a trailer with my 1500 GW. When I bought the 1800 I wanted to fly down the highway trailerless and the Pakit Rak Kit was my ticket to Freedom!
I also purchased the turn down tips for my exaust pipes. I love it!

The moment I saw this bag I knew I needed it for traveling. It is such a great idea to be able to carry your extra gear down low to keep the bike easy to handle and not get to tippy if everything is up high.
I just finished a four day 1,800 mile trip and there were times I was concerned the bag fell off because you just can't tell it is back there.
The bag is well constructed and easily held everything I needed on the road for up to a six day trip.
The attention to detail on this kit and the packing of it was noteworthy. Everything had been checked and double checked before sending it off. You can tell from the checklist in the box.
The bag functions exactly as described with the bar through the bottom that secures it on the pan. The rain cover is well constructed and even though I spent quite a bit of time in rain, the bag never got wet at all.
I've got a 2,000 mile trip coming up and I know it will be even more fun now that I have this bag installed on my bike. And oh yes, at night you take the rain cover off, the bag is clean, and carry it right into the hotel. So simple, easy, and improves the performance on those long trips.

I bought the Pakit Rak luggage rak system and a Bushtec V2 hitch at the same time. This combination makes for the perfect GW luggage and cooler carrier system. With a full hitch, you do not have to worry about weight limits of the items in your bag, and the Pakit Rak rides on a very low center of gravity. I do not notice it is even there when riding in strong winds.
The GW license plate shows through when the Pakit is in place and the rain cover provides great protection. The bag is very durable, has many compartments and will last for many years to come.
The only cons are the Pakit hitch mount is smaller than usual and does not have a lock. When going over speed bumps, it may scrape the bottom of the tray, and mounting the luggage using the bar requires you to get on your knees (unless the wife does it).
I highly recommend the Pakit Rak for anyone traveling weeks at a time. It will releive the weight in the OEM luggage compartments or using the trunk luggage rack for heavy items and risk cracking. Now when I retire, I can purchase that trailer and take a trip for 6 months!
