Just received it, and it works perfectly.
The volume control knob is actually two side-by-side, which allow independent control of left and right earpieces, but because they are immediately side-by-side, they are easy to control together with a quick thumb touch. The microphone volume is an independent roll-knob controller with an off detent, or a variable amount up to full microphone input.
If it continues to work, it will be perfect for "hard of hearing" me, and my sensitive little flower of a passenger!

I had none of the problems previously reported. Fit into sockets was easy and all worked as advertised. The volume is a quick adjustment type but easy to set. Momma likes not hearing the loud noise that I like and need. But it.

I'm back with an update on this volume controller. Mine arrived on May 30, 2007. After the hair dryer "fix" to get the volume controller to fit the lower cord of my EdSets Sonic Boomer headsets (see my prior post) it worked like a charm for about three months (with very limited use). It's now destined for the garbage can. My wife's microphone doesn't work at all if her lower cord is plugged into the volume controller, but works fine if she removes the volume controller and plugs her lower cord directly into the OEM connector on the back of the bike. That suggests to me that the problem lies with the volume controller unit. For $57 you'd like to think it would hold up for more than three months of very limited use.
