GL1800 Extra Long Fender Extension

Hi, I would not recommend this product, even when fitted correctley, it puts too much stress on the brake caliper covers which also supports the fender, you'll find it will crack these straight through leaving the fender insuported and making a horrible sound when you go over rough ground! also small gravel will sound like your bikes about to fall apart! If you insist on using this unit, I would suggest you renforce the calliper covers with fibre glass mat and resin, I've had to do this twice, not worth the grief in my book.

This gives your lower cowl that extra protection from rocks, tar and dirt. Nice, long and looks Great.

I like the protection this provides from the road grime but installation was a little involved, i had everything installed and noticed the bottom of the flap was touching the tire so i had to disassemble it and readjust the flap so it would not rub. It is still very close to the tire but does not touch and after a 2000 mile trip, i have no problems or cracks like some of the other reviewers had experienced.

I love the look. However, with my Metzeler 880 tire there was not enough clearance between the tire and the extension when running over a little gravel. It sounded like the fender was being chewed up by the wheel spooks. Was on a 10 day trip and removed the extension after the first day. Installation was easy and was done correctly. This might be in issue with non-stock tires?

I loved this flap. Have had it on for 3 months. Washed the bike today and found it split my fender all the way up the middle. This is going to cost me $200 for a new fender. I am positive I put it on correctly. Almost looks like I hit a pot hole and the flap hit the lower cowl bottom becuase the break looks as though it had to be from the back of the flag pushing inward. No more flaps for me.
