Staff Pick!!

Heres another home run from Synergy electric clothing, Electric Pant Liners are designed to be worn underneath OR on top of your regular pants. Includes a temperature control at No Extra Cost like all the other Synergy electric clothing. We liked the way they fit, and the heat transfer was rapid and even, just like all the other Synergy heated clothing. So back in Dec 2007 I was very excited about this gear as I froze my self very good on a late Oct ride from RI to TN. The Tourmaster looked great and I really like the integrated controller as I really didn’t care for the other heated gear that required a bulky controller. I ordered my gear in early Jan 2008 and rode from FL to Daytona in Feb, it worked great going down, but the controller on the jacket failed about 150 miles from my house coming home. Tourmaster and Wingstuff both sent me new controllers for free, so I ended up with 2 controllers. I used the jacket with gloves and Warm and Safe Socks the rest of the winter in 2008 and into 2009. In Nov 2008 the second controller on my jacket failed, then in May of 2009 on an 8 day trip to Nova Scotia the third controller went out. I called Wingstuff and Tourmaster but this time I would have to buy a replacement controller.

A little digging on the internet should that the Tourmaster controllers were failing quit a bit. I found a post on ADVRider about rewiring the Synergy jacket to use a Gerbing/Heat Troller Controller. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=302508&page=23

The simple solution is to cut the broken controller off, and tie the red, green, black and yellow wires together, the white is a pass through and should not be connected. Then get a real controller, made by Warm and Safe (which makes the First Gear Controller sold by WingStuff). Now you can have more temperature control of your heated gear, you can even go with a duel portable controller with the pants on one and jacket and gloves on the other.

This link is for a plug in adaptor to do what I described above from Warm and Safe.

Here is an update to my earlier review. The staff at WingStuff have been extremely helpful in solving my controller problem. I did always follow the manufacturer’s instructions to plug the gear in before starting the bike, and shutting off the controls before turning off the bike, but still had an issue in keeping controllers working. After many discussions with WingStuff they decided that like all products every once in awhile someone gets the lemon, and that there may be a short in the clothing itself. WingStuff was very supportive and accepted a return for replacement of my heated Synergy clothing. I would like to thank all the staff at WingStuff for their support and solution. They really have exceptional customer service.

Bought these for my wife. Now she will ride in much colder weather. Many times she says she does not even turn them on, and she is still warm. I am amazed how thin and LIGHTWEIGHT these are. Next thing I am going to order is the matching vest.

I live in Canada close to the Rocky Mountains and we can have cold riding days all through the season. My wife and I like to try and extend our riding season starting early in the spring and then riding late into the fall. There have been days where the temperature was -8C (16F), so heated gear just makes good sense. I purchased a complete set (jacket, pants, and gloves) of the Synergy gear in July 2008 for both of us. It is easy to install, and we used it right away on one of our trips over a high mountain pass. We were in LOVE with the warmth and comfort, and thought this was the greatest gear ever. That only lasted for about an hour and then the controllers quit working. I called WingStuff and they were very good and sent me some new controllers, but again the gear only works for an hour or so. I have now been through five controllers and have given up hope of ever having this gear REALLY work. This year I will research purchasing some new heated clothing and count this as a learning experience, one I hope you may not have to endure.
