Purchased this product after reading other reviews so was forewarned of the faults it has. The main issue seems to point toward the fact it cannot withstand any moisture. I weatherproofed it using the clear wrap which it came in by carefully cutting around the product to separate it from the backing board and sealed the rear before mounting it. Encased the wires in electrical wrap and have had no problems. Backlighting is dim at night but otherwise i`m happy with it.

I have had mine installed on my GL1200 for about a year now.
It is an excelent device. Once I figured out the correct angle to read the display (minor mounting adjustments) it was perfect. As for the seam along the top, I have never had a problem with it. The thin wires? A little electrical tape to make a harness for it and I have never had a problem with it. I am looking forward to putting one on my other bike. |

Showchrome should not have offered this product for a motorcycle. For the low price it may be ok, but the fact you can see the plastic seam around the outer case tells me the first time I get caught in rain it's toast! Sent it back and would not recommend unless it never rains where you live. Frank

It lasted all of 2 minutes. Installed it (really thin wires by the way) stuck it down all worked well and then the inevitable happened...yes folks it rained and after about 20 seconds of this "rain" stuff it died a sorry and unforgiving death. Trashed an hour after installation.
It great for cars but this is not a bike product don't buy it seriously. |

Love / hate relationship with the unit. Just what 1500 and earlier wings need (volts). Not robust enough for a motorcycle. Rain, washing,water kills the unit. I don't know if the unit would be "sealable". Great unit for the functions. However, I agree with georgedarcy, "hard to read at night , back lighting not bright enough", wires are small.
Mounted mine squished & siliconed between the top of the dash and the windshield vent. I am ordering another one to replace the first one. I will see what I can do to seal it. |
