Black Ride Off Center Stand for GL1800
ITEM CODE: CJ1800BL,   SKU: CJ1800BL

01.03.2013
No issues fitting it. Coins in the spring worked perfectly. Makes very little difference to ground clearance on left but a bit on the right.

Takes some getting used to for a smaller, shorter bloke. Hardest bit is "feeling" if the bike is upright enough to have both stand feet on the ground before commencing reverse. Notice also that it loads the reverse gearbox. Often a distinctive "Clunk" when you disengage reverse after having parked the bike.

Also, be VERY careful of where you park. Make sure the surface is flat. One park the rear wheel rode up against a "fold" in the tarmac and when I returned to the bike as soon as I mounted it the stand retracted. Even though it was in gear there was enough backlash to allow the "fold" to roll the rear wheel forward a touch. Within a breath of tipping over. But the stand works and wife loves it.

I had this for nearly two years before installing as I got cold feet over my choice of aluminium. However, there is now a lot of positive feedback from long term users.

The shaping, welds and fittings are all first class. The whole unit weighs less than the OEM CD player that I removed. Very impressed by the well thought out and precise fit, they've covered everthing. Love the fact that's it's totally invisible when the tongue is removed and fitting/replacing takes minutes.

Towed a single wheel trailer 3000 miles on my first trip with it and it handled it all. Single wheelers put more stresses on hitch that a two wheeler. Big twisting forces a hitch is not really designed for and often, just as much downforce as a heavily laden two wheeler. Great product !

Bridgestone Tires for GL1800 & F6B
ITEM CODE: PG02700

This is a follow up on the higher profile 70 rear tyre. I've had the chance to do some high speed work hard cornering at 70 to 90 mph and straight line to 115 mph. Excellent grip as with the 60 but better clearance. Only grounded my footpegs but there were a few corners where I most definitely would have scraped the under fairing or mufflers as I have done before on these rides with the 60 profile tyre. The penalty is a "squidgy" feel. Slightly more weave both cornering and at high speed but very predictable and all well within control. For the huge benefit in cornering clearance, I'll be sticking with the 70 series.

This is a comment on the front tyres which are only available in the one profile. Firstly, I think that they have superb wet and dry grip and I like the centre groove for wet riding. The 5 stars are for grip, stability and tracking which I prize more than wear. For interest, I ran the first set using Goldwing "lore" at 41 psi and got 11,000 miles. I ran the replacement at 36 psi as per Honda as it allegedly gives better grip- not that they need it, but I though "why not". At 5,000 miles (!!) they have the same tread depth as the 41 psi set had at 11,000- ie just above legal. Admittedly the second tyre was ridden a little harder, but not THAT much.

I have used two sets of the standard 60 profile tyre and have now fitted the higher profile 70 series. The bike is much easier to put on the centre stand and sits significantly higher. The measured difference in height between my worn-to-legal limit 60 series and the new 70 series was slightly more than 2". Along a well known twisty road full of 20 to 35 mph corners I found I could add around 3 to 5 mph to my cornering speeds and still touched down the undersides a bit less than usual. The tyre does feel a bit more flexible, I thought it was just my imagination but it really does. May impact tracking at very high cornering speeds but so far the grip is just as good and I love the ground clearance.

Ultragard Touring Luggage Rack Bag
ITEM CODE: BB4603,   SKU: BB4603

11.29.2009
I decided on this one after reading the great reviews and have to say I 100% agree. This is a great bag, appears well made with all sorts of storage options. Stayed rock solid on my chromeworld rack (1800) through my last trip. My only caution is that it has so many pockets you might be tempted to overload your trunk lid.

ISO-Grips for use w/OEM Heated Grips for GL1800
ITEM CODE: KU6183,   SKU: KU6183

Very detailed instructions are very useful. Looks like a quality product. I found my throttle hand needed a break after a couple of hundred miles so I tried these. Didn't work for me as I have small hands (5' 9"/160 lb) and caused more pain than the standard grips but this is not a criticism of the product, these grips are 1st class. Riders with larger hands swear by them.

Ultragard Gold Wing Half Cover Gray
ITEM CODE: BB4458G,   SKU: BB4458G

Take this cover with us every bike holiday and have spent a lot of time overnighting in the rain. The cover does a remarkable job of keeping all the water off the critical bits like seat, instruments and electronics as well as keeping the seats cool in the sun. It's a brilliant product and a bargain at the price. Wouldn't leave home without it.

Like the mirror wings, an excellent product. Well made, nice fittings, good instructions, perfect template for drilling. The supplied drill looks a bit scarey but worked perfectly giving a nice clean hole. On the bike they work brilliantly keeping the radiator air away with the lowers and on a hot day bringing in air with the upper. In the closed position, keeps air off both me and the missus. Orange colour even suits the very dark orange '07 1800.

They live up to their reviews, these are brilliant. Install within minutes. My hands are in almost perfectly still air now- will keep my pinkies from freezing. Opened for summer they do a great job directing air straight up my armpits but it did take some tweaking to get the locknuts tight enough to stop them self rotating in the slipstream. Like the previous reviewer, I'm so happy with them that I've ordered the air wings with lowers as well.

Chrome Luggage Rack for GL1800 Gold Wing
ITEM CODE: BB52-610,   SKU: BB52-610

11.21.2008
4 stars mainly for its bang for bucks. It looks quite good on a cursory inspection and at a relatively low price it's going to do the job- just don't look too close. I was quite impressed with the fittings kit that comes with it. With mounting, it's more an art than science. I don't think that a template would work because the racks are probably all different out of the factory. The location of legs, the bends in the wire and even the angles are all slightly different and the rack is not perfectly symmetrical. You can't mount the rack by measuring. Put it on and eyeball its position with a friend giving back up opinions and when it looks right, drill and mount.
