better than Dunlop E3's
I replaced my worn out Dunlop's with a set of Excedra's prior to a cross continent trip last summer. The round trip distance was just shy of 12,000 km, covered during the month of August. Waypoints included Yellowstone Park (a true test of every aspect of tire performance: wet, dry, cornering, braking and reliability) and Indy Motor Speedway for the MotoGP races. (Paid the extra to get a lap around the circuit @ 60km/hr). After the trip both tires have noticeable wear in the centre. I estimate there is 35-40% wear remaining. Handling is diminished slightly as compared to new, but is better than E3's @ 70% remaining. No noticeable cupping yet. In my experience, Bridgestone has done excellent work in matching these tires to the capabilities of the bike. I highly recommend them. |

Utopia did what Honda missed.
Had mine for over 3 years. Still looks almost new. Makes a HUGE comfort improvement for me on trips over an hour. Totally unexpected was my wife's reaction to the bag that velcro's to the backside of the backrest. She loves it! And, has added it to her wardrobe selection of purses. (It gets used on non-motorcycle activities now) She gets a funny pleased-with-herself look when she slings it over her shoulder. Cool. No guarantee that will happen for you, though. |

Bought the rack with the risers. Followed the installation instructions. The rack fit great without the risers. I like its look and finish. Two of the risers fit nicelyonto the rack studs, two could only be put on with a hammer. Decided to spare the hammer and do without them. Don't waste your money unless you *really* need the extra height. If you do, you may have to resort to a hammer to get them to fit - poor quality control, I assume. Also, pay particular attention to where you drill your holes. If you drill to fit the rack without the risers, the holes will be incorrectly spaced when you attempt to add the risers. Surprise, the instructions don't tell you this - I have no recommendation as to how this can best be achieved. Also, the bolts and rubber grommets that come with both kits do not come with shoulders to allow for the thickness of the top case cover. The supplied solution results in over compression of the rubber grommets, likely resulting in them splitting at a future date. I ended up using the big grommets from the risers, with my own large flat washers and some star lock washers to have snug, secure mounting without undue grommet compression. The much less expensive (but too small for my purposes) Hondaline rack that I replaced contained quality professional mounting bits. Summary - nice rack (3 stars), poor installation instructions and bad quality control for the risers(no stars) and inferior mounting hardware (no stars). |
