Just Starting Out..

Most Gold Wing owners will want a Driver Backrest, back comfort is so important, you may not realize, but under accelleration, your back tenses up. A Goldwing Driver Backrest allows your back to relax and offers superb support. There are two mounting styles, both adjust forward and backwards and adjust to proper position for your individual needs and size. You may click on any of the images shown below on this Blog Post to view them with detailed information on our website..

In Seat Style Goldwing Driver Backrests

In Seat Style have no mounting arms and some riders like the cleaner look. These adjust forward and back, but not as much as the style with the mounting arms. Some prefer these due to the cleaner look, they are very comfortable and mount into the top of your seat.

Gold Wing Highway Boards or Footpegs

Mount to your Honda Goldwing engine guard, rider gets an extra foot position and allows you to stretch your legs out on rides. Everyone buys these either right away or soon after they purchase their bike, a must have item for leg comfort. Kuryakyn is the worlds best choice due to quality, great ground clearance and looks.

Aircraft Aluminum Belly Pan

If you own a GL1800 Gold Wing you MUST buy this item, look underneath your bike, Honda mounted the plastic coolant tank underneath your bike exposed. It gets damaged from flying road debris, many riders found this out the hard way and become stranded on the open road. Belly Pan protects the bottom of engine and coolant tank, while improving handling by creating better aerodynamic airflow. GL1500 Gold Wing owners don't have the coolant tank underneath like the GL1800 owners, but it sure protects the engine and helps handling.

Kuryakyn is winner in this arena with the highest quality LED's available with two lense styles in Red Lens or Chrome Clear Lens that both light up Red when lighted. Kuryakyn instructions wire as on all the time, we run them to an accessory On-Off switch so you can turn them on or off.

Goldwing Passenger Armrests

The best way to add comfort to that important person on the back, Gold Wing armrests are considered a must have Gold Wing accessory. Really adds passenger comfort and allows a place to install a drink holder for your co-rider. Passenger Leg Comfort

Making the rider more comfortable goes hand in hand with your co-rider, the answer is simple,  Kuryakyn GL1500 or GL1800 Transformer passenger boards. These are amazing, they actually have a hide-away fold out arm that has a footpeg which hides inside the board. Offering your passenger a second foot position. allowing your passenger to bend their knees and rest their foot higher. Riders will absolutely love the great chrome look they give your bike compared to the dull looking stock passenger floorboards.

I would add a just a few more to your list. Buy a front fender extender, If you don't already have one get one right away, I was getting damage on my painted body work up front underneath from things that kicked up from the road, after I installed one it stopped. My wife and I also like having drink holders, we have beverage butlers and when it gets hot in the summer it's nice to drink something without stopping. I didn't like the stock honda grips so I installed kuryakyn grips and they look nicer and are more comfortable for my hands. I would also suggest floorboards with a heel shifter, installed the kuryakyn and like the extra foot room compared to stock footpegs that come standard. Far more comfortable now. I would also change the windshield, my wife was getting too much wind on the back so I installed a taller windshield with a vent and she is much happier back there now. The 1800 Goldwing has alot more wind back there on my wife compared to our GL1500. I baught the showchrome brand and am very happy with it instead of the Tulsa that makes getting on and off the bike too difficult because of the angle it has. I think you did a great job covering everything else. Thanks for the info, John

Hello everyone, I just bought my first goldwing. Its an 07 blackcherry 1800 and most of the accesories, except for the bellypan, were on there.I moved up from an 03 750 shadow ACE deluxe. Now don't get me wrong this is a beautiful bike. It rides great until you ride 318 miles in about 6 hours. You decide real quick a bigger bike would be better. I put 418 miles on it the first 2 days and am looking forward to many more, if i could just get a decent weekend. The blogs are very infomative and i wellcome any tidbits ya'll might pass this way. We have a 06 Dk Red Goldwing 1800 and love it....We have put a lot of chrome and lights and it is a show piece...We have kept wingstuff in business .....However, we do alot of shopping and online for good prices, and wingstuff we have not been able to fine lower prices anywhere...If you know where I would love to know....We have not bought the beely pan for underneath the bike, I am really curious how much this is needed? I have it on my wishlist to order, but wanted some feed back on it from those who have it... Thanks Jim

Jim, I didn,t think I needed one eitherbut I let the service tech talk me into it while he was prepareing my bike for delivery. Boy! am I happy I listened! I have about 2890 miles on my new DOMAIN (Dark Orange Metalic Accessory Indulged Neurosis) and about a week ago I took a shortcut paved road to work, well needless to say I was unfamiliar with the road so I was trying to be extra cautious when a car came up close behind I was intent on keeping my eye on him through the rear views when alll of a sudden BLAM!!! I ran over a small 1x6x12 sign someone had dropped of a truck and it really hit the underbelly hard when it flipped up. I figure the belly pan was a good investment and real reasonable, could have been a costly repair. No! you can't buy mine!!Get your own!

Hello Everyone bought a Silver 07 wing in February and have over 11,000 miles so far
I have added lots of Chrome and lights so She looks great to me anyway. I cannot get her up on the center stand by myself am too short.
I was looking at the drive off centerstand and read that you can use reverse to put the wing up

Hello everyone! Jim, I also had the dealer put the belly pan on my 2007 Goldwing. It is really worth the money and not very expensive. It has saved alot of costly repairs. My brother has one on his goldwing and it also has saved alot of repairs for him. My advise is to invest in one and save yourself a lot of costly repairs.

Change your stock tires on the 1800. They really suck. Upgrade to the Elite 3. What a difference. You are just beginning to enjoy your ride. Trust me.

Good information, especially the Belly Pan deal. Bought the highway pegs, now I'm in the market for a back rest, trying to decide which way to go.

Intesting comments, I own and ride 3 different bikes that are used year round. My experence has tought me that many accessories that stick on, glue on, or cover up things will cause trouble or just fall off. Over the last 40 years I have spent thousands of Dollars on accessories, and have no problem with the chrome laden bikes, but now I avoid things that do not add peformance or comfort to the motorcycle.
GL 1800s are good road motorcyles but if you ride more than just warm weekends you can help your ride. A belly pan is almost a must if you ride on any dirt or gravel roads(after 20K miles mine is very scraped and bent), a fork brace will help with stability, fog lamps will help, espically in dark sharp corners, highway pegs will give your legs a strech, and a good seat with backrest will help on long rides.
Always keep good tires on the road. I am on the third set on my 07 GL and am now using Avon Venom Rs.

I have added so much to my Wing I should own a share in Wing Stuff. The most useful item has to be the Utopia back rest. No more back pain on long rides, nerve racking to install. If you order crome from anyone check for scratches, wish I had before installing it. My latest addition, a Champion Trike Kit. FANTASTIC more fun to ride than you can imagine.
Never stop riding

hey brotherins, along with the belly pan, i'd like to add the importance of the headlight shields. that's one of those pay a nickel now to save a dollar just in case later. you get a rock chip in your headlight it's quit expensive to replace

After riding for many years, and then being off bikes for over 20 years, I got back on and was riding a Cruiser. I met my new wife and she had really long legs (36" inseam) that didn't fit too well on the Cruiser. After trying everything on the market, we found a 2002 Goldwing that was the answer to all we needed. It had lots of extras on it including everything on the above list except the upper lights and lighted mouldings. After being turned on to "Wing Stuff", I found the source I needed for everything I could possibly want at great prices. Lists like the above one will make it easy for someone with questions on what to start with.

I just bought a brand new 2006 Wing, just had not sold after a year and half in the showroom. It is a great bike. Am 6'3" and need more leg room to sit comfortably and work the brakes. Thought about a new seat that would set me back 2 more inches...but it cost about $800-900 dollars. So took my seat to an auto upholsterer. He is going to take off a lot of the driver extra foam and get me 2-4 more inches, using the stock seat, under $100. Since I ride one up, no passenger, I really don't need the passenger room. I am hoping this will be better for my leg situations. Any thoughts on that? I am wondering if I move back too much on the seat, will I have trouble reaching the handlebars?

Hi,
I've had a couple gold wings and had a half cover that went over the windshield to the back of the passenger seat. It is worn out and I can't seem to find a replacement. The only half cover I can find now goes over the trunk also which does not work for me because I have flags and poles permanently on there. Any knowledge of one would be appreciated. Thank you.
March 10, 2008 - 10:56 AM
lee, I know of one for you. http://www.tourkingcovers.com/shop/
I've seen these, and they fit well. I'm sure this will fit your needs.
I don't have flagpoles, so I bought the Wingstuff halfcover, flip down my anten-I, and it works well for traveling.

Diesel Dawg: Is there any way other than upholstery changes or an $800-$900 new seat to push the seat back on the '06 Goldwing?

Anybody hear of a solution to this problem?

September 16, 2008 - 09:18 AM
I had the famous front end wabble, I bought the fork brace, not helpful. I then replaced the front bearings with Balls Bearings, and new tires and I feel like Im riding a new bike. I only have a slight wabble if I let lose of the handle bars, and it isn't noticable other wise. Thank God for that, because it was taking the pleasure out of riding fast! The seat and shocks aren't so great to me long trips, so before I rode to sturgis I bought a Air Hawk seat cushion, love it! I still want the 500 series shock. I want I want my wife says LOL. I say Bling For The Wing! Right guys?

I appreciate the concern which is been rose. The things need to be sorted out because it’s not about the individual but it can be with everyone.
