Thanks for the pictures.

What it would look like if Honda, Harley and BMW had a baby. What is with that tail light?
March 16, 2011 - 11:42 AM
I agree Dan. It is sad to see Honda move away from being the leader of the pack and instead try to copy everyone else. While I sure wish my '02 had more storage space in the saddlebags, I hate the new look of the back end.

I am glad i don't need a new bike these multi colour bikes suck. I like one colour. the new bike is grosse.

After all is said and done, I agree with all the comments. But the one that said it all was said in one word....UGLY...

It looks like Honda got so tied up in trying to move their factory that they forgot to think about the machines and the people that ride them. The 2012's are a joke and an afterthought to get something to market. Open the saddle bags and you see the seal are is the exact same shape and size it always has been. The electronics package is now only 3 years out of date instead of 10. My 07 NAV Civic has a better electronics package than the 12 Wing. This was the perfect time to innovate and retool the factory for the next generation. Instead now we have copy cat styling and a machine that can no longer say Made in the USA. Maybe next year things will improve, until then my 08 looks pretty darn good these days.

Not very innovative...They used the old engine and drive train. I was looking forward to seeing the 2000cc and the 6 speed. Very disappointed.

looked at the new bmw got some good points/kit etc,but does not have the looks of the wing(not including 2012 ugly bug)did not like rear back rest (bmw)looks like an afterthought, bmw sounds to noisy when you read owners comments they have quality issues as well, with the comments about radio controls left knee you do get used to that,(here uk we only get a/bag model)

I like it. Its time they changed somethings. I really like the new colors. The side badge with the old looking Honda badge is back from the 60's and 70's. I like it it breaks up some of the same old same old stuff. I want to see one up close. But everybody is entitled there thoughts. Later

You mean there is a wobble problem. Honda says there isn't a problem. At least the dealership I go to says that.

You guys hit it right on the head. Looks
like a BMW on the side and has harley bags. New price, isn't that something.

I am Sticking with my 81 and 05 goldwings.

You know my 81 rides just like the day I got it. What a bike...

Sorry guys but I think this design is FANTASTIC! I have to agree it looks like a BMW in front and a Victory in the rear, but I love the two tone, the lines of the design, and the aggressive looking front. I agree there should have been more up-to-date technology installed and maybe even an electric windscreen. I would have to say though some of the "bling" that one would normally add should be color coded instead.
April 7, 2011 - 04:07 PM
I too may say that disappointment is what I feel. Honda could have WOW'd us with new features and refinements but chose to make very few changes other than body style which will not make run right out and buy a new bike. Can't even say made/assebled in USA anymore. all in all it's a shame they didn't try a little harder to justify the move back to Japan.
April 11, 2011 - 03:24 PM
I'll bet these cosmetic changes are intended to clear the last of Honda's inventory of the current chassis and engines. This new factory will be producing the next generation Wings soon enough. Stay tuned.
April 14, 2011 - 03:44 PM
The jury is still out on the 2012. The two tone color scheme works in the right colors, helps blend the exposed frame in with the rest of the bike. It took me awhile to warm up to the 1800 when it first came out. I don't care for the style of the bags and tail light. Waiting to see what it looks like with a bunch of safety chrome installed.
April 17, 2011 - 02:48 PM
I'm certainly not crazy about the new look. I would like to see one up close, but for now I'll keep the 05. It only has 20K miles on it anyway.
April 17, 2011 - 08:36 PM
The new wing looks like a victory vision and a older goldwing had a offspring, I have been spoiled by the 07 that I own, I dont care for the multicolors on the bikes. I seen that the prices are 4 to 6 thousand higher than the 01s to the 10s , who will be able to afford them.
April 24, 2011 - 10:34 PM
I like them. It's hard to tell, but is there a seam by the air cleaners? That would save tons of work. I agree, it does look like offspring of bmw, honda & victorie's still all goldwing though. I also assume all controls on the left side mean that one's an airbag model?
April 26, 2011 - 12:30 PM
I wonder if the trunk has more room it it, can hardly get my laptop inside unless it's empty. Adding another gear shound've been a priority along with improved fuel milage. Maybe they could have sent questionare to Wing owners to see what they wanted changed. There could be a lot of 2012 models left over when the 2013's go on sale.Almost time for a new Wing but I will wait, until they get really undate the Wing.
April 26, 2011 - 04:18 PM
humm maybe japan is going to force me to harley
April 28, 2011 - 03:12 PM
You all have great input on the 2012, but remember like freanclr said, this is just a stepping stone to what may come after the factory changeover. I believe you'll see a motorized windshield and a six gear to bring down the rpm's. As far as the back end, yeah! they need to do a re-design on it. As far as the size of the engine, Nobody can honestly tell me they use all hp it already has to the rear wheel. I've only took it up to 120 mph and had at least 1/2 throttle used. So I dare any one to go to the rev limiter, if ya got the go-nads... There's no Harley that can make a pimple on Goldwings ass as far as fit nor finish nor technology. I know,Coz I own both. Don't go to the dark side, or get ready to wrench a lot more...

Thanks for the PICS guys...good job !!
Sleek design. Color schemes can grow on you. Looks are definitely a "BMWingly". Outer looks changed, but still a Wing inside. Not enough improvements for the price tag. Upgraded gearbox would help MPG (that would make me happier). I rate the 2012 a 3 1/2 stars out of 5.
Think I'll stick with my least in "MY" eyes it is 'MADE IN USA' !!!
May 5, 2011 - 08:31 AM
At first glance, I was majorly disappointed. Still am mostly but it is growing on me... a little. It is still the best bike on the road, hands down. A six speed box or a wider ratio between the five we have now would be nice, especially for fuel mileage. One thing is for sure, the 2012 took the bug out of me to upgrade to a newer Wing. Also the 2012 makes my 2005 look even better. My gut feeling is that 2013 will be what the doctor ordered.
May 24, 2011 - 08:53 PM
Our first and only bike is a 2007 Wing with Nav and ABS. My wife is learning to ride and doing quite well. I am considering purchasing a 2010 or 2012. She thinks our 2007 and the 2010 look better than the 2012. After spending some time in the show room with the 2012, I must admit it is stating to grow on me. A 6th gear would be nice but I am not waiting for a bigger engine. The last thing I need is more power.
May 29, 2011 - 09:29 PM
Like the short video not sure yet if I like the new look.
May 30, 2011 - 07:12 AM
I agree with both sides. It's ugly and beautoful at the same time! No matter what your opinion is, I think we'll all agree that it is still a Wing and still the best tourer on the road by far! I too think this is just a "clearing sale" and with the new factory we may see a brand new Wing from the ground up. Until then, I will keep my 2010 Wing.
June 28, 2011 - 10:24 PM
How many of you really thought that Honda was going to spend millions in these economic times to bring out a totally new Gold Wing ? We are lucky they brought one out at all, Sales have plummeted since 2008. The new wing looks different and you either love it (like me) or hate it. Been a bike rider since 1965 and ridden many wings and the 2012 is the BEST yet. Dont knock it till you ride it !
June 29, 2011 - 07:24 PM

I agree with most of the comments about the 2012. I wish Honda had gone to a 2000 cc and a six speed also. My 2001 is the very best bike i have ever owned ! and if the 2012 style is all we have to look forward to in the future i would still buy a Gold Wing,no mater what it looks like !!!
July 12, 2011 - 12:20 PM
I agree with dan about the tail light, and it should be 6 speed .
August 26, 2011 - 07:14 PM
I don't own a Goldwing yet, but I'm giving it a lot of thought. I use to own a couple different BMW RTs, the last being a R100RT. I rented a Goldwing recently to see if I wanted to deal with the weight or not. It was hardly noticeable. And as far as the 2012 bikes go, I think they look great. I can't believe some of you still want a bigger engine. You should put a Mac truck engine on two wheels and go for it. I'd rather see the engine reduced in size so it would have less weight and more MPG. Maybe a six speed also. But I wouldn't change the looks of the bike at all. 1200cc would be nice.
